Reversec’s Daisy Radford on Understanding Attacker Behavior to Secure Systems

By Rashmi Ramesh (rashmiramesh_)

Threat actors are harnessing artificial intelligence tools to supercharge their tactics, and that’s putting cyber defenders on their back foot. It’s time to rethink security tooling, strategies and the overall understanding of attackers, said regional managing director at Reversec Daisy Radford.

Hackers are quickly moving through the attack chain, using generative AI tools to enhance social engineering and embed themselves in user systems.

“Unless we start bringing in sociology and psychology, then we’re just going to be stuck looking at the technology,” Radford said. “We’re not thinking about how people are using the technology, and that’s negative in the sense that we then can’t create solutions that defend against what humans turn these technologies into.”

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group at the GovWare Conference and Exhibition 2025, Radford also discussed:

How attackers are evolving social engineering through AI and prompt injection attacks;

Why behavioral inteligence – not just signature-based detection – is critical in today’s security operations centers;

The urgent need to prepare for a post-quantum security environment.

Radford is the regional managing director of Reversec, a specialist offensive cyber consultancy headquartered in Singapore. With experience in defense and national security missions, she has expertise in countering advanced cyberthreats, building national capabilities and guiding government digitalization. Radford advises nonprofits, startups and initiatives supporting underrepresented voices. She also serves on the boards of ISC2, the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore, and British Tech Advocates.
