Lega Serie A has extended its naming rights agreement for the Coppa Italia domestic soccer knockout competition with train operator Frecciarossa for the next two seasons.
The renewal is worth €5 million (US$5.22 million) annually, according to Italian publication Calcio e Finanza, with Serie A president Lorenzo Casini telling Italian media that this marked a 30 per cent increase on the previous deal.
Having originally come onboard as the competition’s naming rights sponsor in November last year, the new deal with the operator’s parent company Trenitalia runs until the end of the 2023/24 season and includes designation as Serie A’s travel partner.
The partnership also includes naming rights to the Italian Supercoppa match between the Serie A and Copa Italia winners.
“[More] good news is the confirmation of the sponsorship with Trenitalia for another two years for the Italian Cup, with an increase in the figures of 30 per cent,” Casini said.
“In general we are satisfied because in the last three years we have registered an 80 per cent increase in visibility.”
