The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is putting up a virtual discussion on COP 26: Stakes, Prospects and Implications. The discussion will be on Wednesday 6 October, 15:15 (London time) and will be opened by EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso.
Achieving an ambitious deal to tackle climate change at the COP 26 meeting in November is of huge importance for the world and for the EBRD. Even if a comprehensive deal is achieved, implementation will be crucial, especially in emerging markets, such as those where the EBRD operates. Low implementation capacity in many of these markets means that the international community needs to play a leading role in assisting them to meet their commitments. The panel discussion will reflect on what is at stakes at COP 26, what deal could be expected and what this implies for the international community, including the EBRD.
