With Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium nearing its second anniversary and the highly anticipated Hollywood Park development nearing completion, the mega development has a new senior vice president and chief technology officer, Travis Sampson.
In the role, Sampson will oversee the implementation and infrastructure of technology across SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, as well as manage the technology and broadcast departments and drive strategic efficiencies site-wide.
Hollywood Park, a 300-acre mixed-use development being built in Inglewood by Los Angeles Rams Owner and Chairman Stan Kroenke, will include retail, creative office space and residences in addition to the YouTube Theater and American Airlines Plaza. The developers say it is the largest urban mixed-use development under construction in the Western US.
“SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park are technological marvels,” Sampson said. “Each venue on the campus sets a standard in technology, and I look forward to growing and developing the technology vision and story to create something truly unparalleled with the team at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park.”
Formerly serving as executive vice president and chief technology officer for BSE Global, Sampson led technology across all BSE Global properties and teams and was responsible for designing and implementing the technology strategy and vision for Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. He collaborated on the development and implementation of the “Netaverse,” a platform digitizing the player experience in partnership with the NBA, Canon, YES Network and the Brooklyn Nets.
“Travis is a dynamic leader, and his background in developing and implementing venue technologies will be an invaluable asset for our team,” said Jason Gannon, managing director of SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, in a statement. “His experience and ideas about the future of digital and virtual technologies will grow our business and elevate the guest experience.”
Previously expected to open this fall, the first phase of Hollywood Park’s retail district will open in spring 2023 with 320,000 square feet currently under construction. The entire project will total 500,000 square feet and include tenants such as Antojitos Martin, Grilled Fraiche, Residency Art Gallery, Iconix Fitness and Red Bay Coffee.
