Members of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), including representatives of governments, industry, operators and academia, are meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, from 3 to 5 December to review regional preparations for the next World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27).
The first Inter-regional Information Session (IRIS) on WRC-27 Preparation will consider ITU’s latest technical and regulatory studies, as well as key developments in radio spectrum management, including radioastronomy, Earth observation, lunar spectrum usage, satellite coordination, and the next generation of mobile telecommunications, ahead of WRC-27 in Shanghai, China.
The three-day information session will take place at ITU headquarters and is open to accredited reporters.
Held every four years, the World Radiocommunication Conference updates the ITU Radio Regulations, the sole international treaty governing the use of radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits.
WRC-27 will take place in Shanghai from 18 October and 12 November 2027.
