The 33rd European Regional ITS Conference, the theme of which is Digital Innovation and Transformation in Uncertain Times, will be held June 29 to July 1, 2025 in Edinburgh, Scotland, according to a headsup obtained by our reporter from Don Romaniuk of the  ITS Secretariat.

“For individuals who would like to attend the Conference but have not yet registered there is still time to do so at the following link: https://itseurope.org/2025/registration/

Additional details about ITS Edinburgh 2025, including programme information, hotel accommodation, and instructions on how to get to, and around and about, the Conference venue, can be found on the Conference website at https://itseurope.org/2025/”, stated Mr. Romaniuk.

In his welcome message to Conference participants, ITS Chair, Stephen Schmidt remarked that Edinburgh, was a city whose streets echoed with ideas, inventions, and enduring connections.

Schmidt’s words: “Scotland’s contributions to telecommunications are profound and far-reaching. From the birth of the telephone with Alexander Graham Bell to today’s leadership in digital ethics, Scotland has not only helped the world connect but helped it reflect. It is fitting that we gather here to explore the evolving role of telecommunications in shaping economies, societies, and identities.

This year’s conference invites us to look both inward and outward at the technologies we build, the networks we depend on, and the values that must guide them. This year’s program ranges from platform economics and digital inclusion to AI policy and telecom regulation, grounded, as ever, in rigorous research and shared inquiry. And at every turn, we will be challenged to ask: Not just what technology can do, but what it should do—and for whom.

“We are grateful to Dr. Paolo Gerli and the team at Edinburgh Napier University for graciously hosting this year’s conference, and to our organizers, Dr. Volker Stocker and Dr. Jason Whalley, whose leadership continues to bring this community together. And above all, to our speakers, panelists, students and other participants from across sectors and borders who make this community one of substance, trust, and curiosity.

Thank you for being here. May the days ahead spark fresh thinking, meaningful connections, and a shared sense of purpose. In a world that moves fast, may this gathering remind us of the power of ideas that last.

I hope you enjoy the conference. I look forward to meeting many of you or reconnecting in person.”
