The Telecommunications and Transportation Regulation and Supervision Authority – ATT clarified that it rejected Viva’s (Nuevatel PCS SA) request for the transfer of effective control and announced that it will verify that the company remains in terms of ownership and continues to provide the service to the population.
Executive Director of the ATT, Néstor Ríos announced the rejection of the authorization request for the transfer of shares in favor of Balesia Technology Inc, which the operator Viva made on March 7.
Ríos explained that, after an investigation and six requests for information, it was established that: “the information provided is not transparent, it is not enough for this authority to make an affirmative statement to authorize the transfer of Viva.”
“The rejection of the transfer request from the company Viva (Nuevatel) to the company Balesia Technology has been notified. This decision will also be subject to control and supervision, we will ensure that this measure is complied with and that the sector is regulated” explained Ríos.
“We are going to ensure that there has been no violation of the regulations, that the company continues to be and depends on the owner of the holding company who has effective control, otherwise we will take the actions that the regulatory framework establishes”, assured the Executive Director .
The Authority warned that the operator Viva is one of the three largest companies in the country that provides mobile telephony services, any decision of this company can generate an impact on the market and users.
