Top representatives of telecommunications sector advocacy body, the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria(ATCON), yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Management team of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Cyber Era NG learns. The ATCON delegation was led by ATCON President and Vice President, Tony Emoekpere and Muhammed Rudman, respectively.

The ATCON delegation was received by Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO, NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida; Executive Commissioner Stakeholder Management, NCC, Rimini Makama and Executive Commissioner Technical Services, Nigerian Communications Commission, Abraham Oshadami.

The purpose of the visit is still secret but an insider at the Commission, knowledgeable about similar visits, who pleaded anonymity, confided in our reporter said the visit most likely was not unconnected with the lingering interconnect issues between and among telcos that have literally jolted the relationship between banks and telcos, which the NCC and the financial sector regulator led by the Central Bank of Nigeria, had been trying to resolve.

“Interconnect issues must have been top of the agenda and you could decifer this from the caliber of ATCON chiefs that visited,” he said.
