There is a large variety of AI technology whose development should be based on application scenarios to solve real problems, according to Ted Chang, CTO and vice president of Quanta Computer.
Quanta considers modes of behavioral changes in the future and what business models can support such changes in its development of AI tech, Chang said in a keynote delivered at 2022 Taiwan AI EXPO hosted by DIGITIMES.
Enterprises cannot but choose AI because if they do not adopt AI and digital transformation, they will face serious challenges, Chang noted. The term “disruptive innovation” implies that enterprises without innovations will be disrupted, Chang indicated.
Chang emphaiszed “navigation” and “guidance” in AI adoption, the former referring to positioning of oneself and the latter to the direction to go. AI is the correct direction, but it is necessary to keep adjusting in the entire process of adopting AI technology, Chang said.
AI technology is not the future itself but rather a method and tool that leads to the future, Chang noted, adding AI technology should be linked to reality.
In view of the coronavirus pandemic and increasing demand for geriatrics along with growing aging population, Quanta focuses development of AI technology on application to medical care, Chang indicated.
Quanta has set up a large AI platform for providing inexpensive or even free AI R&D resources to help hospitals and clinics develop AI-based solutions, Chang said. Besides, Quanta has cooperated with National Cheng Kung University and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University to create synergy through sharing both sides’ resources, Chang noted.
In order to enable AI technology to solve problems, Quanta has communicated with doctors and keeps watching application scenarios to see how introduction of new devices affect data, create pathways and how to make new algorithms compatible with existing architectures, Chang indicated.
