The majority of US homes now combine one of the ‘Big 3’ streaming services with at least one other SVOD.

According to new figures from Parks Associates, 54 per cent of US broadband homes now subscribe to at least one of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Hulu, along with at least one other OTT service such as HBO Max, Disney+ and Paramount+.

In total, 82 per cent of US broadband households subscribe to at least one OTT streaming service, with subscription stacking taking the place of traditional pay TV packages for many. This has translated to consumers now paying US$85 per month for OTT services on average, compared to previously spending US$117 per month on pay TV services.

President, Parks Associates, Elizabeth Parks, said: “It’s a crowded market, and households continue to diversify their subscriptions. Delivering relevant content with excellent personalised experiences is a key focal point to stay competitive.”
