A leading company in the data center services sector in Latin America, Ascenty  has announced the inauguration of the fifth unit of the Hortolândia complex, in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The company also has a sixth data center under construction at the site, which is expected to start operating in 2023.

The total investment for the installation of the unit has been R$350 million(US$67.03million) so far, with a forecast of reaching R$920 million by the end of the final phase of the site. Hortolândia 5 has already opened with 20 per cent of data processing centers occupied by customers, with a plan to reach 60% by the end of 2023.

Ascenty now has 28 units in Brazil, Chile and Mexico, 23 of which are in operation and five under construction. With the inauguration, the Hortolândia campus had its power expanded by 134 per cent, going from 23MW to 54MW of energy.

“Next year, we will complete the sixth unit of the complex that started in 2015. Hortolândia is an important industrial and technological center that is growing. The investment in the municipality is part of our expansion strategy in line with the high demand from companies for digital services”, says VP of Operations, Marcos Siqueira.

The Hortolândia campus is connected to Ascenty’s 5,000 km of proprietary fiber optic network and interconnected to the Praia Grande (SP) submarine cable station. Ascenty is “carrier neutral” and provides its customers with direct access to numerous telecommunication operators in its data centers.
