March 31, 2022 marked the suggested deadline for EDA’s Economic Adjustment Assistance programme and EDA closed the programme at that time. EDA received application submissions well in excess of available appropriations, totaling over US$2 billion in demand across the country, or over 4 times the US$500 million available through this program. Due to the high volume of responses and EDA’s limited available funds, EDA will not reopen the programme for new applications.

Indigenous Communities Programme

EDA has also received application submissions well in excess of available appropriations for the Indigenous Communities Programme, totaling over US$400 million in demand across the country. This also accounts for over 4 times the US$100 million available through this program. Due to the high volume of responses and EDA’s limited available funds, EDA is no longer accepting applications for this program as of April 19, 2022.

If a community is currently working on an application that is eligible and responsive to this programme, the application may be eligible under EDA’s regular programming. EDA encourages communities to connect with their local Economic Development Representative (EDR). EDRs can advise how to best move forward and if a project is suitable for other EDA funding opportunities.
