PNCC Strengthens Emergency Telecom Planning …Attends Emergency Telecommunications Workshop

An Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) workshop themed “Tech Together – Advancing Regional Coordination,” was held in Fiji from September 23-25, under the sponsorship of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Palau National Communications Corporation(PNCC) Switch Operations Manager Jesse Alfonso and NEMO Logistics and Response Officer Leon Debengek represented Palau at the event.
Government experts from 14 Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs) united to discuss pathways for establishing regional coordination frameworks.
The Pacific ETC, established in 2016, continues to collaborate with relevant stakeholders as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening ICT preparedness capacity, regional coordination for disaster preparedness and response in the Pacific.
The findings and outcomes of the workshop will shape the establishment of a more adapted regional emergency telecommunications cluster, tailored to best support governments better prepare to withstand the shocks of climate threats and geohazards.
