Hong Kong’s PCCW Media has contracted TV technology outfit Amino to upgrade the user experience of its Now TV video services.
PCCW Media will use the AminoOS-converged IPTV and OTT set-top box software stack to offer a range of advanced TV features.
Amino Engage, Amino’s SaaS service management solution, will be used to simplify Now TV’s device and app management, according to Amino.
Now TV is Hong Kong’s leading Pay TV operator with the territory’s largest subscriber base, the most SD and HD channels, and the largest VOD library.
“This project keeps Now TV at the cutting-edge through unifying the service management of Pay TV and streaming, and upgrading the user experience of our subscribers. As our long-standing technology partner and a leading expert in Pay TV infrastructure, Amino is the obvious partner for this exciting development,” said head of pay TV, PCCW Media, Derek Choi.
“We spend a lot of time talking to and surveying consumers and customers. Over the last two years, the strongest message was that everyone wants a combination of the rock-solid user experience of pay TV and the user-friendly and wide choice of OTT streaming,” said Amino Group CEO, Donald McGarva.
“To meet these needs, we have developed the Amino Pay TV+ concept, and have gained solid deployment experience of delivering Pay TV+ through different platforms. We’re incredibly excited that we are now working with PCCW Media to provide consumers in one of the most competitive video markets with an exciting ‘best of both worlds’ TV and video service.”
