Zack Snyder’s Justice League Release Sees Groundswell For HBO Max

By Jonathan Easton

WarnerMedia’s decision to give in to fan demand to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut has been met with a drastic increase in downloads for HBO Max.

The release of the four-hour director’s cut of superhero movie Justice League came after a year’s long campaign from fans and Snyder himself, and HBO Max has been rewarded for its investment.

According to Apptopia, the HBO Max mobile app was downloaded 1.48 million times and experienced 119.1 million sessions for the week ending March 28. Users increased by 8.9 per cent while downloads shot up by 64 per cent.

Parent company AT&T will hope that this translates to a significant uptick in subscribers, following its year-end total of just over 17 million in the US.

The streamer will launch in 60 countries outside of the US this year, including 21 in Europe. It will also launch a cheaper ad-supported tier in June, though prices are yet to be confirmed.
