Norwegian DTT provider RiksTV has launched on Samsung smart TVs.

Developed by Norigin Media, the apps are available on a range of Samsung Tizen models and utilise the developer’s TV App Framework.

RiksTV, Norway’s only TV distributor that provides TV via antenna, internet, and fibre, has coverage in 98 per cent of households in the country. The service combines linear TV channels with on-demand movies, series and kids’ content and also offers a parallel OTT solution to users called Strim.

The distributor said that it partnered with Samsung for this launch on account of its significant market share in the Nordic region.

The RiksTV and Strim streaming services are already available on PC, mobile, tablet, Apple TV and Chromecast. Following the launch on Samsung sets, Norigin said that its tech would also allow for similar launches on all key manufacturers of Smart TVs and consoles, including Samsung, LG, Philips, Sony and PlayStation.

RiksTV CEO Jérôme Franck-Sætervoll, said: “We are glad to launch RiksTV’s and Strim’s services on Smart TVs. We are expanding our reach on new devices to enable the best possible experience to consumers in Norway. We are happy to expand our collaboration with Norigin Media, our trusted partner for building these apps.”

Norigin Media CEO Ajey Anand said: “It’s great to see RiksTV take such large strides in providing the best of TV streaming services and Norigin is happy to collaborate with the very creative teams from RiksTV.” https://www.digitaltveurope.com
