Norweigan commercial pubcaster TV 2 has announced an upgrade to its TV 2 Sumo app on LG WebOS smart TVs using Norigin Media’s TV App Framework.
The streamer, deployed across a range of LG devices, is described as having a “sleek new design and user experience” which has been created by the TV 2 design team in conjunction with Norigin Media.
This new upgrade includes support for 4K streaming along with TVOD for renting or buying movies.
This is an extension of a partnership which was first announced in the summer of 2019, when TV 2 selected Norigin for development of the app. Since then, the app has gone on to be deployed across multiple CTV devices including set top boxes along with Samsung and LG smart TVs.
Product director at TV 2 Sumo Marius Bjerke said: “We have been updating many of our large screen TV apps using Norigin Media’s TV App Framework and development services. This enables consumers in Norway to stream content on an increasing range of devices. LG has been a strategic device for TV 2 and we hope to build the best of TV experiences on all their new models.”
CEO of Norigin Media, Ajey Anand said: “It has been a pleasure working with TV 2, the leading commercial Broadcaster in our home market, Norway. Working on the latest Smart TV devices launched in 2020 has resulted in many new features being offered to their consumers and Norigin is glad to help build these UI/UX experiences.”
Smart TV Manager, LG Electronic Nordics, Jonas Marken said: “LG Smart TVs have a strong penetration in Norway, as many Nordic homes are opting to stream from Connected TVs. This makes LG a strategic choice for Broadcasters in the region, who are able to offer premium customer experiences, a quality app store and smart navigation.” https://www.digitaltveurope.com
