Music and entertainment-focused media outfit Trace has hired Molotov Solutions to develop and operate the new version of its OTT platform, TracePlay.

Using the Molotov platform, TracePlay will offer more than 25 live TV channels, 100 radio channels and some 1,000 hours of on-demand content. The platform will be distributed in 180 countries, which the pair said was a first for Molotov, across Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and North and South America.

The service, which will launch in the spring of next year, will be available in French, English and Portuguese.

French OTT TV service provider Molotov branched out to offer its technology to third parties as a solutions provider in June.

The company described Molotov Solutions as a range of services for media, content owners, and telco operators, which leverages the streaming outfit’s heritage, know-how and of the OTT environment.

For Trace, Molotov will supply a video platform in the cloud with live, replay and on-demand video; a back office suite with interface control, content editorialisation, users and offers management, and data analysis; an API that interconnects with third party applications spanning CRM, analytics, payments, and telecom operators to promote Trace’s content offerings on set-tops and to propose a SSO login and carrier billing to users;

Molotov will also provide mobile and tablet applications for iOS and Android, a responsive browser-based web application and availability on large screens with Chromecast, Android TV and Apple TV.

The French outfit will also provide Trace with a proprietary video player compatible with ABR streaming that is multilingual and integrates features such as pause/resume, startover, fast forward and rewind and channel hopping;

Other features include multi-language, live-to-on-demand, radio and podcasts, personality tracking, watchlists, in-app-purchasing and parental control.

“The digital and non-linear consumption of TV and radio channels and content continues to grow, especially among young and urban audiences who particularly enjoy Trace. We chose Molotov Solutions for the quality of its technical platform and the expertise of its team. Together, we will build the most beautiful audiovisual experience of afro-urban entertainment,” said CEO of Trace, Olivier Laouchez.

“We are very pleased to support Trace in the strategic acceleration of its OTT services. This is a very comprehensive and global project, which demonstrates the scope of Molotov Solutions’ services and the capabilities of its team in France and internationally,” said COO of Molotov Solutions, François Le Pichon. https://www.digitaltveurope.com
