As the Dialogue on Telecommunications & ICT Sector draws near, the Association of Telecommunications Companies Of Nigeria(ATCON) under the able leadership of Olusola Teniola, has released the speakers list comprising heads of ministries, departments and agencies of Nigeria’s federal government, and captains of industries including c-level executives from corporate Nigeria.
ATCON information from its Executive Secretary, Ajibola Olude, shows the Federal Ministers of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, Defence, Major General (Rtd) Bashir Magashi, Minister of State; Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo and Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire will be speaking to the theme Harnessing the Digital Resources for the building of our National Economy, from the perspective of their respective ministries.
The Dialogue is billed for the Nigeria Air Force Conference Centre & Suites, Abuja, north central, Nigeria, on March 26, 2020. Minister of Communications & Digital Economy, Dr. Ali Isa Ibrahim Pantami is the Principal keynote speaker! Topics to be addressed include, but are not limited to:
- Digital Economy in Nigeria: Challenges and Opportunities
- Private Public Partnership and Development of Mechanism for the seamless Management of Inter-Ministries and Agencies: an imperative for Broadband Infrastructure Development in Nigeria
- National Funding and Investment Strategy for Broadband Infrastructure and Digital Economy: The Importance of Education and Awareness
Moderators and panel chair speakers for the dialogue have also been named.
On Special Sectoral Discussion: Harnessing Digital Resources for Sectoral Effectiveness and Efficiency for National Development, the moderator is Managing Director of Mainone, who also doubles as Co-Chair of Nigerian National Broadband Plan 2020-2025 Committee, Funke Opeke. The other Co-Chair is a former Acting Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer(EVC/CEO) of the NCC, Dr. Bashir Gwandu.
The Panel on National Funding and Investment Strategy for Broadband Infrastructure and Digital Economy: The Importance of Education and Awareness, will be chaired by the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer(EVC/CEO) of the NCC, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta.
The Panel on Regulation on Emerging Technologies (AI, IoT, Robotics, Blockchain, etc): Leveraging on Nigerian Young Population’s Innovation and Creativity for National Development has as its Chair, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.
A former EVC/CEO at the NCC and currently Chairman, Board of Directors of MTN Nigeria, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, will chair the Panel on Digital Economy In Nigeria: Challenges And Opportunities, while the MDCEO of Galaxy Backbone, Muhammad Bello Abubakar will be the Panel Chair on Private Public Partnership and Development of Mechanism for the seamless Management of Inter-Ministries and Agencies: an imperative for Broadband Infrastructure Development in Nigeria.
